  • Iman Iftikhar, Rhodes Scholar '24, University of Oxford

    Iman Iftikhar (she/her) is currently reading for an MPhil in Political Theory as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University. Prior to joining Oxford, Iman graduated with distinctions in her B.A. in History and B.A. in Philosophy from Yale University. Originally from Lahore, Pakistan, Iman is interested in becoming a critical theorist beyond the confines of the ivory tower. 

  • Maria Khan, University of Cambridge

    Maria Khan was a Commonwealth Scholar at the University of Cambridge where she completed a BA/MA (Law Tripos). She was called to the Bar of England and Wales as a member of Lincoln’s Inn and has worked at leading international law firms in London and New York.

  • Jovera Shakeel, Rhodes Scholar '25, University of Oxford

    Jovera Shakeel will be pursuing a graduate programme in Development Economics as a Rhodes Scholar the University of Oxford. She is currently pursuing a joint major in Economics and Mathematics at LUMS.

  • Mehrunissa Sajjad, University of Oxford

    Mehrunissa Sajjad completed a BA (Hons) Degree in History and English Literature at the University of Oxford, where she was also elected Vice-President of the Oxford Union. She is an Advocate of the Lahore High Court specialising in constitutional and human rights law.

  • Nawal Fatima Rai, University of Oxford

    Nawal holds an MPhil in International Development from the University of Oxford and a degree in History from LUMS. She is currently working with the Oxford SDG Lab on social prescription, designing a system to integrate the NHS, GPs and patients through a more holistic approach to healthcare.

    Scheherezade is currently Assistant Director of Professional Development & Research at Beaconhouse School System. She has over 18 years of experience in educational leadership and policy. She holds an MSc in Comparative Social Policy from the University of Oxford, MS Teaching and Curriculum from Syracuse University and MS Accounting and Finance from Kinnaird College.

  • Azam Noon, University of Cambridge

    Azam is currently the Director- Schools ARVO. He was previously Head of Academics at The Educators, a project of one of the largest school systems, the Beaconhouse School System. He has over a decade of experience in the education sector, both nationally and internationally. His diverse experience ranges from classroom teaching, curriculum design, working as an educational consultant for Public Education Programmes with organisations like Adam Smith International and FCDO. He holds an MPhil in Educational Leadership and School Improvement from the University of Cambridge. He completed his MEd at the Pennsylvania State University on a Fulbright Scholarship.

    Mekaeel holds an MBA from the University of Oxford and is the COO of Weaverbird Group, overseeing a diverse business portfolio. As the Founder of Climate Finance Pakistan, he focuses on mobilizing financial resources for climate action and sustainable development.   • Aisha Ahmad, University of Oxford

    Aisha Ahmad is Assistant Professor at the Shaikh Ahmad Hasan School of Law. After securing a gold medal for her undergraduate degree in law at LUMS, Aisha obtained an LL.M. at Harvard Law School, an MPhil in Development Studies at Oxford as a Clarendon Scholar and a DPhil in International Development at Oxford as Green Templeton College’s Sir David Watson Scholar. Her work relates to the political economy of law, urban governance and Marxist legal theory.

  • Maheera Ghani, University of Cambridge

    Maheera is a Material Scientist and PhD candidate in Materials Science at the University of Cambridge. Previously, she was awarded an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship by the European Union, and completed a double Masters in Advanced Materials Engineering at TU Darmstadt, Germany and Grenoble INP, France. Her work experience includes various research placements including R&D consulting for tech startups.  

  • Maham Faisal Khan, University of Oxford

    Maham is a Senior Data Scientist at YouView TV Ltd. She has a Bachelors in Experimental Psychology and Philosophy from St. John’s College, Oxford and a Master’s in Urban Data Science from New York University.

  • Nageen Qasim, University of Cambridge

    Nageen is the Lead Strategic Project Manager at Leaflink, a cutting-edge payments fintech in NYC where she manages the development of financial lending products and oversees the company’s multi-million dollar M&A portfolio. She is an experienced program manager with over 10 years of experience in leading strategic initiatives across equity capital markets and in the fintech space. She is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at the University of Cambridge.

  • Aleena S Khan, University of Oxford

    Aleena Khan holds an MSc in Social Anthropology from the University of Oxford and an undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Sociology from LUMS. Her research included a qualitative investigation of cyber security of women in Lower Dir, KPK. She is currently working as a profile builder, where she supports students in developing strong academic and extracurricular profiles for college applications.

  • Saad Khan, University of Oxford

    Saad Khan graduated with a BA in Geography from Christ Church, the University of Oxford. He has since gone on to complete the law conversion course and legal practice course and is now practising law as a Trainee Solicitor at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in London.

  • Ayeda Hamed, Oxford Pakistan Program Scholar, University of Oxford

    Ayeda Hamed is pursuing the MPhil in Development Studies at the Oxford Department of International Development.  She is an Oxford Pakistan Programme scholar, and her studies are being generously jointly funded by the Hamid Ismail Foundation and the Malala Fund. Previously, Ayeda completed her undergraduate studies in Politics with a certificate in Russian Language and Literature at Princeton University, and graduated with cum laude honours in 2023.

    Prior to coming to Oxford, Ayeda has worked at a number of research organisations such as the Beaconhouse National University’s Center for Policy Research (BCPR), the Institute of Development & Economic Alternatives (IDEAS) in Lahore, and the Center for the Study of Democracy in Sofia, Bulgaria. She also worked as a Research Assistant while studying at Princeton. Her ideas on democratic development in Pakistan have been published by The Friday Times, a major Pakistani newspaper, as well. Ayeda is also an experienced sitar player and has performed at the Alhamra Arts Council in Lahore.

Salman Akram Raja University of Cambridge

Advocate, Supreme Court of Pakistan

Salman Akram Raja is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and has around 30 years of vast experience in all forms of dispute resolution. He is particularly recognized for his successful advocacy before the High Courts and the Supreme Court of Pakistan in a number of far-reaching and landmark constitutional, commercial, and corporate cases.

Sarah Belal University of Oxford

Executive Director, Justice Project Pakistan

Sarah Belal is Executive Director of Justice Project Pakistan, a non-profit organization based in Lahore which represents the most vulnerable Pakistani prisoners facing the harshest punishments, at home and abroad. Sarah received her law degree from Oxford University in 2006, was called to the Bar in 2007 and gained rights of audience in the Pakistani High Court in 2008. In December 2016, JPP was awarded the National Human Rights Award, presented by the President of Pakistan.

Iftikharuddin Riaz University of Oxford

Advocate, Supreme Court of Pakistan

Iftikharuddin Riaz has been ranked individually by Chambers and Partners in Band 1 for Commercial Dispute Resolution in Pakistan from 2014 to 2022 and is one of the few lawyers in Pakistan to have been ranked for both dispute resolution and corporate work.

Iftikhar has acted in investor-state treaty disputes and was appointed to the high-level committee set up to negotiate Bilateral Investment Treaties on behalf of Pakistan and advised the Government on related issues. Iftikhar has represented Pakistan and the Pakistan Business Council in meetings of Working Group II of the UN Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).

Ammar Ali Jan University of Cambridge

Historian, academic & activist

Ammar Ali Jan is an activist, historian, and educator. He holds a Ph.D. in History from Cambridge, where he worked on communist thought in India. His work explores the intersection of communism and nationalism in Colonial India by examining how European ideas are extended and reshaped as they circulate in the non-European world. He is also a member of the Haqooq-e-Khalq Movement (HKM), a civil rights campaign dedicated to safeguarding the constitutional rights of Pakistani citizens.

Mina Malik is an Oxford-trained writer and poet based in Lahore. She is the co-founder of The Peepul Press and prose editor at the Aleph Review. Her work has appeared in Rowayat, Briefly, Vallum, Scroll and other publications.

Osama Siddique Rhodes Scholar, University of Oxford

Legal Scholar & Writer

Dr. Osama Siddique is a Pakistani novelist, legal scholar, teacher and policy reform consultant. He was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford and holds Masters and Doctoral degrees from Harvard Law School. He has also taught at Harvard Law as the Inaugural Henry J. Steiner Visiting Professor in Human Rights. Osama is also a graduate of Government College University and LUMS and has taught at the latter for many years where he also led the establishment of and headed its Law and Policy School.

Osama works in the areas of sociology of law, legal history, human rights, constitutional law, access to justice, and law and development. He also serves on the Senior Faculty of Institute for Global Law & Policy (IGLP) at Harvard. He is also deeply interested in the areas of archeology, ancient and medieval history, literary fiction, science fiction, the natural world, mythology and fantasy.
